Julian Opie deals with reality. His work in a variety of media simplifies images, mainly of people, down to essential recognisable features. He is most famous for his blur album cover, which used a portrait of the band.

His work with people interests me the most. Made using printmaking, painting and computer editing these are portraits stripped down and made simple. It lets you see people from another perspective but still recognisable.

Getting together a group of REAL and NOT REAL drawings. Drawings done by people who CAN’T draw. They look a lot like drawing to me. This could be how my final installation will look. Hung on the wall under two catagories showing how strange a concept not being able to draw is. It automatically leads you onto thinking about good and bad. Perhaps the catagories should be good and bad drawings. But who is to decide that? I would have to ask everyone if they have made a good drawing. It would be interesting. This could be done as a performance making people physically place their work under a sign of GOOD DRAWING or BAD DRAWING. Either catagory is quite strange and would possibly not be comfortable for anyone. A lot could end up in the middle.

Thinking about what I want to do with my piece. What it is to do? Trying to get to the point is something I very much need to work on in general. I have found it very interesting during my simple experiements that some people, who don’t study art, have been quite anoxious at the thought of drawing and told me that they can’t draw. I was thinking that this is quite a simple but highly interesting comment.
Thinking about perhaps getting together a grouping of real drawings and unreal drawings.

Been thinking about how important this is. It is an unreal drawing.
